Oyster mushrooms: One of the best choices for cocopeat-based mixes because oyster mushrooms are vigorous, fast-colonizing, and tolerant of a range of substrates. Cocopeat helps hold moisture and maintain airflow, though straw or other cellulose-rich material can improve yield.

Lion’s mane: Can perform well when cocopeat is blended with more nutritious hardwood-based ingredients. Cocopeat supports moisture balance, but lion’s mane typically benefits from added woody material.
